Big loss for Kenyan music Family and Kenyans at large after ‘Mwana wa Mbeli’ hit maker Ingosi dies

 -The luhya Mwanambeli hit make Mzee William Ingosi Dies at his home after a short illness.

-Mzee Ingosi who is popularly known for his tune Mwanambeli passed on while at his home early this week  in Kamulembe Village in Tiriki, Vihiga County.

-Ingosi has been representing the luhya and kenyan people in singing traditional songs in the international platform.


Kenyan music industry suffers a major blow after the man who sang and popularised the  Luhya folk tune Mwana wa Mbeli which means "the firstborn".

Mzee William Moshi died at his home after a short illness.

Mzee Ingosi has been a Kenyan traditional culture and luhya ambassador for so many decades.

His song Mwanambeli was composed for the then Kenya prime minister and Mzee Jomo Kenyatta after he was freed from detention.He then performed the song to Mzee Jomo Kenyatta at Kiambu County at his home in Gatundu.

His song Mwanambeli was composed as a metaphor referring Mzee Kenyatta as the man who delivered Kenyans from the colonial captivity.

The song then became a popular tune in the Luhya community as they sung it in most of their traditional ceremonies.

The simple tune has become popular to even non luhyas becoming a tune for all Kenyan communities as you could here them singing it in most occasions.

Mzee Ingosi has represented Kenya at many international forums,as he could sing Luhya traditional songs and playing traditional instruments.
