Othaya Member of Parliament, Mary Wambui, who is also former President Mwai Kibaki’s ex-wife, has done to the late First Lady, Lucy Kibaki, what no woman can do in the African context, especially after sharing a husband. Wambui cried like a child in public following the passing away of her co-wife who died yesterday in London. While eulogizing the late Lucy Kibaki, Wambui was overcome by emotions and broke into tears and cried like a child in public. She termed the former First Lady as a personal friend and that her death was a big blow to her. “I have lost a personal friend. I know how far we have come with her and the many things she taught us, including to be courageous and fight for what is ours,” Wambui said. “We condole the former President and his family. We pray that they remain strong and know they are not alone during this difficult time. We bid the former First Lady farewell and believe we will meet in heaven,” she added.
