Othaya MP, Mary Wambui, finally remembered the day former First Lady Lucy Kibaki chased her out of her marriage for trying to rock her union with former President Mwai Kibaki. Wambui was married to Kibaki and even had a child with him. Speaking while eulogizing the former First Lady who died in a London hospital, Wambui thanked Lucy for teaching her family values and how to protect those you love. She noted that Lucy protected what was hers by all means even if it meant rubbing shoulders with her own friends, like her, who tried to cross her path. “I have lost a personal friend. I know how far we have come with her and the many things she taught us, including to be courageous and fight for what is ours,” said Wambui. Mary Wambui’s alleged affair with Mwai Kibai forced the former First Lady to ask the former President to denounce her in public and declare her as his only dear wife.
