The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) finally announced the vacancy of the position of Chief Justice 3 weeks ago after the retirement of Dr Willy Mutunga on June 15.
In an advert that showed up on local dailies, the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Anne Amadi, requested that qualified competitors take an interest during the choosing of the man or lady to succeed Willy Mutunga.
“JSC anticipates that the recruitment process shall take about four months given the statutory
timelines guiding the process and expects the new Chief Justice to be in office in October, 2016.” Amadi said.
Tailing this declaration, various Kenya judges, researchers and academicians have applied for the top position.
