President Yoweri Museveni on Monday surprised village residents when he stopped on the side of a highway to make a phone call.
He directed his security not to block traffic as he made his call, which lasted 30 minutes.
The president was on his way from attending a World Population Day commemoration in the country's Isingiro district.
Curious residents started gathering when they saw him talking as he sat on a chair off the highway.
He acknowledged cheers from the crowds with his trademark thumb sign.
