President Uhuru Kenyatta was left embarrassed in front of fellow East African Presidents after his host, Tanzanian President, John Pombe Magufuli, decided to poke
fun at him in front of everybody.
Magufuli, who was speaking during a summit of East African Heads of State held in Tanzania this week, addressed President Uhuru Kenyatta in Dholuo while full aware that he is Kikuyu and does not understand any Dholuo.
Uhuru struggled to comprehend what Magufuli was saying and even tried to consult his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame, if he understood Magufuli’s message delivered in former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s own local dialect.
Magufuli’s mastery of Raila’s language shocked his fellow Presidents prompting them to bust into laughter.
