Siaya Senator James Orengo has moved to rebuff rumours that things between Ford Kenya and ODM are not OK following the incident on Saturday in which former Prime Minister Raila Odinga skipped the Presidential launch of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula at Muliro Gardens on Saturday, which turned chaotic.
Speaking yesterday, Orengo, who was among those appointed by CORD to plan for the launch, explained that Raila skipped Wetangula’s event because of the anticipated violence.
He revealed that they received intel that the Jubilee Government was planning to cause violence at the rally with an intention of hurting Raila Odinga and that’s why they could not risk the life of the former PM by taking him to the ground knowing that Jubilee was waiting for him with an ulterior motive.
We were told that there was a lot of tension on the ground, and we were at Kisumu Airport for more than 2 hours trying to wait for it to calm down and also convince Oparanya about the function,” said Orengo.
“We could not risk Raila’s security by taking him to the ground,” he added.
Orengo blamed the Jubilee administration for the violence that erupted at Wetangula’s event saying the so called ODM goons could as well have been Jubilee goons disguised as ODM supporters.
