Ronaldo Bebeto Sichenje is the talented 17 year old hope for Kenya who has been admitted at the prestigious La Masia Academy run by European champions Barcelona Bebeto is now the first Kenyan to be trained at a FIFA recognized academy that has produced the world’s best players like Argentine Lionel Messi and the Spanish duo of Xavi and Iniesta A 17 year old boy from Kakamega, could make history by being the first Kenyan to play for European giants Barcelona. Ronald Bebeto Sichenje has been admitted to the famed La Masia Academy, its this academy that has produced the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Iniesta. The youngster was spotted by the Aspire Dream Tournament scouts at the term two ball games. This year Bebeto will play in the ball games before joining the Catalan academy later in the year. Bebeto is the captain of Kakamega High School football team popularly known as the green commandos. Bebeto also becomes the first Kenyan to be trained in a FIFA recognized academy and this will boost his chances of honing his talent further. Bebeto’s talent was nurtured by his father Zechariah Sichenje who trained from the age of five and named him after the 1994 World Cup wining Brazilian star Bebeto. La Masia which means Farmhouse is the name of FC Barcelona’s football training facilities, originally located near the Camp Nou in the Les Corts district of Barcelona, and is often used to generically describe the Barcelona youth academy. La Masia holds more than 300 young players, and has been praised since 2002 as one of the best in the world.
