Former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has asked Cord leader to forgive her after she ditched ODM for Jubilee.
Wanjiru, who has aspirations of running for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the forthcoming general election, is said to be seen as an outsider by central Kenya powerbrokers who are fronting Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru for the powerful position.
The Bishop went ahead to mobilize church leaders to meet Cord leader to intervene on their behalf over the proposed law that seeks to regulate rogue churches. This has been interpreted by Cord legislators as an open rebellion by Wanjiru.
To further show that she is seriously considering joining ODM, Margaret was among those who attended ODM youth leader Rashid Mohammed father’s burial in Mumias.
Her son, the Mathare MP Stephen Kariuki, is also said to be distancing himself from Jubilee after declaring that he will stand with Uhuru.
Kariuki was quoted as saying:
“Uhuru and Ruto are more popular now than they were in 2013 and will easily win 2017 elections”
Wanjiru son is married to Uhuru Kenyatta’s niece Nana Gecaga.
It is yet to be seen how Raila Odinga will react to the new development.
